Didsbury SciBar (we/us/our) treats your (you) privacy extremely seriously and is a strong advocate of web anonymity.

We are fully GDPR compliant and, in using this site and/or attending one of our events, you agree to our transparent privacy policy and terms as defined below.

  • Use only essential cookies to enable the functionality of our website.
  • Add you to our mailing list if you consent to do when registering for one of our events via our Eventbrite channel or via our signup page on this website.
  • If you subscribe to our mailing list, we securely hold the information that you provide to us solely for the purpose of providing you with information that we deem may be relevant to you, according to your subscription preferences. We share this data with Brevo, our EU based email provider, solely to facilitate transmission of our emails. Brevo has a strict data GDPR compliant privacy policy, hold your data solely on behalf of us and do not share your data with any 3rd party.
  • Understand that you may change your subscription preferences at any time. Instructions for how to do so are included within every email that we send to our mailing list.
  • Use SPF, DMARC and DKIM to enable you and/or your email provider to verify the authenticity of our emails.
  • Assume that, in attending a Didsbury SciBar event, you consent to our use of your content and/or images in any promotional material that we produce in either physical or digital format, solely for the purpose of advertising and/or promoting Didsbury SciBar.
  • With your consent, use optional cookies to allow us to track, via Google Analytics, visitor usage on our site. We track visitor behaviour patterns within our site; page visits, country of origin and browser. This data, including IP address, is anonymised and not uniquely identifiable. We do this to help us understand traffic patterns to, and usage of, our site to ensure that our visitor experience on our site is compatible with and consistent across our visitors’ browsers and devices. You may opt out by accepting only essential cookies.
  • Sell or share your data with and other 3rd party, including Eventbrite, The Albert Club, The British Science Association (BSA) or any other affiliated SciBars.
  • Retain any of your personal data longer than is required in order for us to offer our services to you.
  • Purchase membership lists.
  • Provide you with a copy of your data that we hold and our reasons for doing so, upon receipt of a request from yourself and our subsequent verification of your identity.
  • Provide you with the ability to correct or amend any of your data that we hold.
  • Promptly remove your data from our website and/or database if requested to do so by you.

Didsbury SciBar is a safe space and we adopt a zero-tolerance policy.

Our online events require your pre-registration via our Eventbrite channel and are fully moderated by the Didsbury SciBar team (us), who can be contacted directly via the in-meeting ‘private chat’ functionality at any time.

Our ‘in person‘ events at The Albert Club are recorded for the benefit of our online participants. Whilst every effort is made to focus on the speaker, you, as an attendee accept that your image may feature on our website, social media channels, livestream and/or subsequent YouTube recording of our events.

Your attendance at our event assumes that you consent to these terms.
